Play Dueling iPods On the JVC’s Dual-Dock Shelf Systems

jvc-dual-ipod-dockJVC’s got not one but two new shelf systems out, and each features not one but two iPod docks. That’s one to play The Wizard of Oz, and one to play The Dark Side of the Moon.

The JVC NX-D2 is a 230-watt system that has a three-way speaker design and the ability to charge and play your two iPods simultaneously. It’s also got a USB Host, AM/FM tuner, and CD player, the last of which seems particularly redundant. Its wimpier 60-watt cousin, the UX-F3, has a pair of two-way speakers and is other wise similar to the NX-D2. The former will be available this month for about $400, while the latter hits stores in May for about $200. That is, unless you find a double coupon.

Miniature boombox as an iPod dock

boombox-ipod-dock_yCdPq_22974The boomboxes remind me of my teenage beach parties and crazy rock n’ roll. Here’s a sweet replica of a classic boombox in the form of an iPod docking speaker system. The Boombox iPod Dock is a tiny portable device, measuring just enough to hold an iPod or an iPhone. The little boombox offers powerful stereo sound quality with integrated double speakers. Power Duo Reserve iPod and iPhone charger by Griffin

powerduoreserve_1According to Griffin’s website, their PowerDuo Reserve is “the industry’s most trusted AC and 12 volt chargers”. The included portable battery is designed for the iPod and iPhone.
All you have to do is magnetically lock the small battery pack to the car charger or AC adapter, and the tiny green lights let the user known when it is charged. Later, when you are listening to your iPod and see that its battery is getting low, just plug in the charged battery pack for a little more juice.
I had a chance to try it out, and it didn’t take long to charge the Reserve Support battery at all. My only complaint is that the car charger adapter and AC adapter had a USB port, but there was nothing in the Power Duo Reserve that seemed useful for recharging USB devices. I suppose you could use the included USB to iPod connector cord to charge it that way if you want to.
You should be able to purchase the Power Duo Reserve for about $59.99 on the Griffin site
